Canico, close to Funchal is in the southeastern part of the island. In Canico you find lots of Hotels and Apartments. The village is in ca. 3 km distance to the holiday resorts which are close to the sea ( Canico de Baixo).There are lots of bars, restaurants and snack-bars in Canico de Baixo. One of the biggest attraction is the access to the atlantic in the Galomar Hotel. The nice promenade near to the Hotel Oasis invites you for a walk to Reis Magos, a former fishervillage.

Santa Cruz in the southeastern part of the island is a very charming village, with lots of cafés, boulevards and restaurants.It is near to the airport Santa Catarina. For family amusement there was recently built the "Agua - Parque", a "Splish-splash" Waterpark for the whole family and only opened during the summer period. The golf course of Santo da Serra is not far away, Madeiras only golf course with 27 holes, where the Madeira Island Open starts every year in March.From Santa Cruz it takes you only a few minutes to go to Santo da Serra, its also a paradise for walking, you find lots of Levada walks in the region of Santo da Serra and Camacha. In Camacha you should visit the wicker work centre .
