Madeira offers ideal conditions both for enthusiastic divers and for those who want to learn this sport. Various diving centers on the south coast of the island offer diving courses as well as trial diving, snorkeling tours and dives.
Due to the exposed location in the Atlantic and the warm Gulf Stream, the island makes a tropical impression. Thanks to the mild climate and water temperatures of 18 - 23 degrees, Madeira is suitable for diving all year round and offers a varied and fascinating underwater world.
In impressive underwater panoramas, divers encounter an enormous diversity of species: parrot, trumpet, puffer, trigger fish and tubular eels swim alongside sometimes huge mackerel, barracuda, groupers up to 70kg in weight, manta rays with a span length of 3-4 meters and rare seal species.
Thanks to the relatively small amount of underwater crowds, most fish are not shy and get close to the divers.
