A variety of different dolphin species, such as common dolphins, Atlantic spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, roam the coast of Madeira. Not all species tolerate people in the water. But most of them are very interested in swimmers and involve them in their game.
When swimming or snorkeling with dolphins, a speedboat takes you to the animals. The swimmers then go into the water and hold on to a rope attached to the boat. The slight movement of the boat encourages the dolphins to play and swim around the snorkelers in the water.
Diving with glasses and snorkels should be familiar.
